Terms and Conditions
1. About the Program
The Strong Wings Caregiver Respite Retreat (“Program”) is offered by Rare Birds Foundation ("Organization") to provide rest, connection, and support for caregivers. Participation is voluntary and subject to these Terms.
2. Eligibility & Participation
Participants must be at least 18 years old, complete the application process, and meet any stated criteria. Acceptance is at the Organization’s discretion. Participants are encouraged to attend the full retreat and engage respectfully with others.
3. Health & Personal Responsibility
Participants are responsible for their own physical and mental health needs during the Program, including medications and care. The Program does not provide medical or mental health services. In an emergency, participants consent to receive necessary medical care at their own expense.
4. Assumption of Risk
Program activities may include travel, group events, and recreational or wellness experiences. By participating, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks involved.
5. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, you agree to release and hold harmless the Organization and its staff, volunteers, and partners from claims or liability related to your participation, except where prohibited by law.
You also waive rights under California Civil Code Section 1542, meaning this release applies to claims you may not know about at the time.
6. Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to treat others with respect and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment. The Organization may remove participants for behavior that is unsafe, disruptive, or inconsistent with these expectations.
7. Costs & Cancellations
The Organization will provide up to $800 USD in total grant funding per recipient to cover approved respite retreat and travel-related expenses. Participants are responsible for any additional expenses beyond this amount or not specified as covered.
If you need to cancel, please let the Organization know as soon as possible. In the event of a medical emergency involving the participant’s affected child, the Organization will work compassionately and in good faith to reschedule, transfer, or reimburse eligible retreat-related expenses whenever reasonably possible. Late cancellations or no-shows may affect future participation. The Organization may modify or cancel the Program if unexpected circumstances arise.
8. Accessibility & Inclusion
The Organization is committed to inclusion and will make reasonable efforts to accommodate accessibility needs in accordance with laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
9. Privacy & Media
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act where applicable.
Photos or videos may be taken for program purposes; participants may opt out in writing.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.

By applying to or participating in the Program, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
